摘要

Sequence stratigraphy is a science studying the genetically related facies within a chronostratigraphic framework. Sequence is the basic unit of sequence stratigraphy, which is a "succession of genetically related, essentially conformable strata bounded below and above by unconformities and their correlative conformities. Sequence boundaries with uncomformity surface on shelf and correlative conformity surface in basin are defined as synchronous, and thus have chronostratigraphic implication. As a result, there should be certain intrinsic relation between the basic units of sequence stratigraphy and chronostratigraphy. To make clear the intrinsic relation between these two stratigraphic units and to improve the methodology of chronostratigraphic subdivision such as stage are an important task in the study of stratigraphy.
