Although heavy duty trucks will continue to switch from using diesel to natural gas for fuel without federal tax incentives in the US, the rate of conversion could be increased if the US offered incentives for the construction of associated fueling stations, said Jim Arthurs, president of Cummins Westport, a natural gas engine maker. Mr. Arthurs noted that investors need incentives to build the stations because trucks need them before they can make the switch to using the new fuel.
