摘要

The X-ray phantom material (PM) is a kind of substitute materials of the tissues of human or biological beings in radiology and application of atomic energy to investigate the dosage effect, It is necessary for the PM to have nearly the same interaction results as the tissue it simulated with X- or gamma-ray. Since the 1960s, because of the wide use of radiology and atomic science, this field has received much attention and become a brisk aspect in biomedical engineering. Since the first PM appearedin 1906, hundreds of PMs have been developed to fit the needs of different kinds of tissues. However, in the formulation of PM, although there were some guiding methods with which researchers prepared PMs mainly in experiments, up to now there have beenmethods not adequate enough in accuracy, operability, and in theoretical basis, and thus could not be actually used. In fact, the formulation of PM remains a question and has been one of the key barriers in the development of PM.
