Since Coey et al, prepared the R_2Fe_(17)N_x, compounds by means of doping the nitrogen in gas-phase reaction, the magnetic properties of R_2Fe_(17) intermetallic compounds have been significantly improved. This aroused wide interest of relevant scientists. Recent research results show that Sm_2Fe_(17)N_x has excellent intrinsic magnetic properties, but the nitrides R_2Fe_(17)N_x consisting of other rare-earth elements except Sm, have an easy-plane anisotropy. In addition, Sm is very expensive. Thiskind of permanent magnetic materials is largely limited for the practical application. So the relevant scientists have been trying to find a new way to prepare a new permanent magnetic material which has both the lower cost and much better magnetic properties. The intrinsic magnetic properties, the micromechanism of intermetallic compounds (Sm_(1_x)Pr_x)_2Fe_(17) and its nitrides are systematically studied by using X-ray diffraction, magnetic measurement and Mossbauer spectroscopy, and the effect of substitution of Pr for Sm on them is revealed as well.
