To re-use or not to re-use? That's the question when it comes to poultry house beds. Poultry producers in North American are strong advocates of re-using the beds, and often do so for 15 up to 30 lots. Europeans poultry producers, on the other hand, are very strict about reusing the birds' beds, and replace it in every lot. If we take a look at Brazil, producers in the region tend to replace it at every 3-6 lots. Besides, EurepGAP rules determine that re-used beds be treated and tested for microbiological risks. At the bottom line of the disagreements, there are suspicions about its sanitary safety.
