Greetings fellow bamboo enthusiasts and ones to come... My family and I were driving south through the Great Rift Valley of southern Ethiopia during the summer of 2001 when, to our surprise, we found references in our guide books to a town and surrounding area called Chencha - known for its Beehive Huts made out of bamboo. Chencha, of course, was a natural destination. Since my visit I've wanted to share the small amount of information and photographs that I have from that beautiful location in Ethiopia with all of you. I also want to reach out to the global bamboo community for more information about the Chencha area as well as other African bamboo experiences - what is going on in the world of African bamboo?
