摘要

Spiral wall panel form the sides of the furnace in supercritical boilers as against the conventional straight wall panels in case of subcritical boilers. This panel consists of flat fin welded to tubes that are further welded with sets of weld pad matrices placed at discrete locations along the length of the panel. Weld pads are used as the load bearing structural members of the component during final assembly. The total length of weld pad matrix ranges from 5000 to 8000 mm while the total length of panels is over 20 m. A fillet size of 4 mm was required for welding the weld pads. Hence, the welding of weld pad requires huge quantum of metal deposition on one side of the panel leading to a localized longitudinal bow of the panel after welding. This requires a laborious post corrective operation to straighten the panel.
