In the lead up to the Paris Air Show (June 18 to 24), Airbus Industrie (Toulouse, France) announced a spate of orders for a variety of aircraft - most notably its recently redesigned and relaunched midsize A350 XWB passenger jet. Qatar Airways signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to buy 80 new Airbus A350 XWB aircraft. This will make the airline the largest customer for the A350 XWB to date and the first one in the Middle East. This agreement supersedes one signed in 2005 for 60 A350s in the aircraft's original configuration. The MOA calls for 20 A350-800s, 40 A350-900s and 20 of the largest in the family, the A350-1000. Deliveries will begin in 2013.
