Cytec Industries (Woodland Park, N.I.) announced on Feb. 2 that its Engineered Materials division has been awarded contracts to supply carbon fiber composite materials for major primary structures on Bombardier's (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) new CSeries and Learjet 85 aircraft programs. Additionally, CYCOM 890, a liquid resin infusion system, will be used to manufacture structural elements of Bombardier's CSeries aircraft wing. The resin system's performance characteristics reportedly widen the resin infusion processing window and, thus, reduce risk during fabrication of large and complex structures. The resin is produced at Cytec Engineered Materials' (Tempe, Ariz.) plant in Wrexham, U.K.
