DEFRA's launch last week of the inva-sives code of practice has thrown up some big questions for the industry. Experts at the launch of the strategy (HIV, 10 March) agree many non-native plants and animals are a threat to local flora and fauna. A more difficult question is what to do about it. DEFRA and the HTA are keen to emphasise that there is no import ban on troublesome invasives. Banning imports of plants such as Rhododendron pon-ticum is meaningless as they are already so well-established.
