摘要

The move towards sustainable low-input golf took a major step forward at this year's British Open at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake. In contrast to Augusta's verdant swathes, a worldwide audience saw a course described by organisers as "golden". No less a figure than tournament winner and world number-one Tiger Woods said of the course: "This is how it all started and how I think it should be played." But winning the golfing world round to a course management approach that uses minimal applications of water and chemicals has not been easy, and golf still has something of an image problem among non-golfers.
