摘要

Few plant developmental processes are as critical to horticultural commodities as flowering. Flowering is essential to both the production of the vast majority of edible food crops as well as to the aesthetic beauty of our landscape and floricultural crops, With the advent of molecular genetic tools and transgenic and mutant plants, many aspects of floral induction and morphogenesis are no longer mysteries. This colloquium will provide reviews on the state of our understanding of floral induction and morphogenesis from speakers who are using model systems to elucidate this critical developmental process.
