The objective of the current Communication is to report the results of an interview study on compliance in the Barents Sea fisheries and to briefly discuss the experience of using qualitative research methods. An attempt is made to trace the major themes of the interviews, defined by Rubin and Rubin (1995) as repeated descriptions of real or desired behavior.
