摘要

One of the most time consuming parts in developing numerical software for mathematical models involving partial differential equations is the implementation of the numerical scheme. This is partly so because programming languages like Fortran and C do not have elements in which numerical discretizations can be easily translated. In this paper an operator calculus will be presented in which numerical schemes on triangular meshes can be written in a compact way. The elements of this calculus have been designed such that they have direct counterparts in, a software environment called TRIFIT. This means that once a numerical discretization is written symbolically in this calculus, the implementation ina computer code is straightforward and compact. [References: 1]
