The new compound (1,3-diammoniumpropane)_3[V_4W_9O_(40)]?H_2O was synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The main structural motif is a vanadium rich Keggin anion. The central tetrahedron is solely occupied by V~V, while the remaining metal atom positions are statistically occupied by V~V and W~VI. Between the anion and the diprotonated amine molecules a pronounced hydrogen bond network is observed. Upon heating the compound decomposes in three steps.
