The cages of the zeolitic sodalite lattice can be occupied by half by the tetrahedral CrO42- group, yielding a thermally stable, intense lemon-yellow pigment, in which the colour centres are shielded completely from the atmosphere. The analyses yielded compositions Na-8[Al6+2deltaSi6-2deltaO24](CrO4)(1-delta) with a small surplus of Al3+ and a CrO42- deficiency (delta congruent to 0.15). [References: 5]
