摘要

Mg_(4.85)Rh_6Si_(13) was obtained from a mixture of the elements in an alumina crucible enclosed in a tantalum ampoule at 950 ℃. The crystal structure was solved and refined from single crystal diffraction data [space group P6_3/mmc;a = 8.709(1) ?, c = 22.240(1) ?]. The new structure type displays a three-dimensional [Rh_6Si_(13)] framework, which contains Si_4 tetrahedra and Mg_2@Si_(18) polyhedra consisting of two magnesium centered truncated tetrahedra connected by a hexagonal face. The compound is a Pauli-paramagnetic metal with a high electrical resistivity.
