摘要

Single crystalline yellow [Yb(NH3)(8)][Yb(Pyr)(6)] (Pyr(-) = pyrrolate anion, C4H4N-) was obtained by the reaction of ytterbium metal with pyrrole (C4H4NH) in liquid ammonia at -35 degrees C. Significant excess of ammonia together with avoiding a pyrrole excess prevents formation of the molecular compound [Yb(Pyr)(3)-(PyrH)(2)(NH3)(2)]. [Yb(NH3)(8)][Yb(Pyr)(6)] consists of two homoleptic ionic units and rapidly decomposes if removed from the ammonia atmosphere, viz. it shows an ammonia vapour pressure > 1 bar.
