In a recent issue of Vaccine, Joseph and Goddard [1] reported influenza vaccine coverage data among elderly in England. Undoubtedly, the Department of Health coverage targets of 60 and 65% of the population for the years 2000/2001 and 2001/2002. Nevertheless, in three Health Authorities, the respective annual coverage was 50 or 54% only (Fig. 2 of original article). Irrespective of other government and allied organization sponsored measures to ensure almost cent percent coverage of elderly, immunizations in elderly would get a boost following linkage with annual or occasional events in the life of an individual.
