摘要

The reaction of SnI_4 with each of a primary, secondary and tertiary phosphine has been investigated and in none of the cases are simple adducts formed. With Cy_3P, [Cy_3PI]~+ salts of both [SnI_3]~- (1) and [SnI_5]~- (2) are isolated arising from reactions involving both reduction at tin and halogen transfer. With the secondary and primary amines Ph_2PH and CyPH_ 2, respectively, additional HI elimination reactions occur and the salts [Ph_2PH_2]~+_ 6[Sn_ 3I_(12)]~(6-) (3), [Ph_2PH_ 2]~+_ 2[SnI_6]~(2-) (4) and [CyPH_3]~+ _2[SnI_4]~(2-) (5) have been isolated. Compounds 1-5 have been characterised crystallographically.
