The novel ligands 3 and 4 (i-Pr-Rucaphos, Cy-Rucaphos) react with (tmeda) PdMe2 yielding ethane and distinctly bent, trans-spanning bisphosphine chelated 14-electron palladium(0) species, which have been fully characterized, including single crystal X-ray diffraction.
