A 79-year-old man was admitted to our clinic with a tumor on the right lower lip, first noted 12 months previously. Physical examination revealed an ulcerated, exophytic lesion of approximately 3.5 x 2.5 cm that crossed the vermilion border, approaching but not involving the commissure. Incisional biopsy revealed a well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. The remainder of the examination was normal with no lymphadenopathy. The chest radiography and laboratory studies were normal. The tumor was staged as a T2N0M0 squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip.
