摘要

Lipomas are often removed because of aesthetic concerns or discomfort secondary to local structure compression. Although surgery is the criterion standard in the treatment of lipomas, visible scars and the potential for prolonged recovery times are known complications of most surgical modalities. We report herein on an effective, simple, safe method for the treatment of lipomas using a micropulsed 1,444-nm neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (NdrYAG) laser applied interstitially through an optical fiber. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the use of the 1,444-nm wavelength for this indication.
