摘要

We read with interest the recent article by Goodson and colleagues on the importance of total body photography (TBP) in screening for melanoma.1 The authors cautiously affirm, despite the lack of general clinical-epidemiological evidence, that this method is gaining ground and could become useful in improving the early diagnosis of melanoma and reducing the number of unnecessary biopsies. In our opinion, this does not correspond to the truth. In fact, the TBP issue is outdated and is one that we thought was behind us, above all with the advent of dermoscopy. TBP dates to 1988, and already in 1989, some authors had begun to express doubts about its advantages.
