Based on the structure of the food control in both German parts after the Second World War the development is represented after the uniting in the 16 federal countries of the Federal Republic of Germany also in view of the execution of the harmonisation of the German food law in the European Community. The most changes were noticed in the five new federal countries by a very quick adoption of the structure for the official food control from originally centralised structure into the federalist system, but beside all advantages all disadvantages of the public service in the old federal countries were taken over.
