Nineteen different species of wild mushrooms growing in the East Black Sea region and two cultivated mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus and Pleurotus ostreatus) were analyzed spectro metrically for their trace element (Pb, Cd, Hg, Cu, Mn, and Zn) levels. In the mushrooms supplied from the East Black Sea region, the highest Pb level was 6.88 +/- 2.85 mg/kg for the species Hypholoma fasciculare, which was collected near the vicinity of the road. The lowest Pb levels were 0.12 +/- 0.04 mg/kg in the species of Pleurotus ostreatus and 0.38 +/- 0.22 mg/kg in Agaricus bisporus. The highest Cd level was determined as 3.48 +/- 0.58 mg/kg for Hydnum repandum. Among the wild mushrooms, the lowest Cd level was 0.56 +/- 0.22 mg/kg for the species of Armillaria mellea. The highest Hg level was found as 0.91 +/- 0.30 mg/kg for the species of Hydnum repandum, whereas the lowest Hg level was 0.06 +/- 0.02 mg/kg in Russula foetens. The highest Cu content was 92.5 +/- 14.1 for species of Amanita muscaria. The lowest Cu levels 5.11 +/- 0.67 mg/kg for Pleurotus ostreatus and 5.22 +/- 0.72 mg/kg for Hydnum repandum. The highest Mn and Zn levels were 138.0 +/- 15.8 and 199.6 +/- 26.7 mg/kg, respectively, for species of Polyporus squamusus. The lowest Zn levels were 17.2 +/- 6.3 mg/kg and 17.8 +/- 5.8 mg/kg for species Tricholoma terreum and Hydnum repandum, respectively.
