OSHKOSH GETS BIG LIFT FROM JLG ACQUISITION: Oshkosh Truck's 15th deal in a decade the biggest at ?2.5 billion; JLG's access equipment to be fourth and largest business segment
Over the last 10 years, Oshkosh Truck Corp. has made 14 acquisitions that have helped the company grow significantly. In one 10-week period that ended in mid-October, it made just one that nearly doubled the company. Announced on Oct. 16, its ?2.5 billion purchase of aerial work platform and telehandler manufacturer JLG Industries Inc. transformed Oshkosh Truck from a ?2.65 billion specialty vehicle manufacturer into a ?4.7 billion-plus giant and adds a fourth business segment to Oshkosh's defense, fire & emergency and commercial truck segments. Expected to be finalized in December assuming regulatory approvals, it is the 15th acquisition Oshkosh has made in the last decade and the third this year alone (see related chart).
