The commercial marine marketplace has seen new highs and new-lows during the past two years In the shipyard segment there have been closures, as well as companies that have built their largest backlog. At the midyear mark for 2010, the results for U.S. Gulf Coast shipbuilders are better than most would have expected No major shipyards have closed in the region, although Bender Shipbuilding in Mobile, Alabama, U.S.A., did declare bankruptcy and was purchased by Signal International and is now a ship repair facility, Signal has yards in Texas, Mississippi and Alabama.
