People gave me lots of helpful advice when I was making the switch to emergency medicine. Here's what I didn't know. when I decided to leave day practice at a very successful 24-hour facility and move halfway across the world (OK, five hours north) tobegin a career in emergency medicine, I received a lot—a lot—of advice. Some of it was good. But mostly I received ominously foreshadowing warnings, really. I was _ sufficiently prepared,thanks to my concerned peeps, for the long hours, lack of sleep, financial limitations and a ghostiy graveyard staff.
