Phasa specialises in the design, development and manufacture of machines for the assembly of Thermo-Plastic products. Established for 20 years PHASA has become the world market leader in the supply of Hot-Air Cold- Stake assembly equipment, the name PHASA (Plastic Hot Air Stake Assembly) is now generic to the process. Operating from offices in Germany and manufacturing within the UK up to April of 2007 the company was part of an American Private Equity group but since April was purchased as part of a Management Buy Out by the present management team and now operates independently. The company philosophy is to manufacture and stock a standard range of machines that are individually tooled to a customer requirement allowing for a timely and reliable supply to market within a tightly controlled cost structure. The customer base is predominantly 1st and 2nd Tier supply chains spread between 70% Automotive and 30% White Goods / Electrical with over 70% of product exported worldwide. There are few applications that we have not had experience of and our presentation will major on the process principals and a product design guide with general assembly application examples from small part sensors to vehicle bumpers, as well as special materials with fillers and coatings that are becoming more common in a general marker which is constantly being driven for an uncomplicated process and use with additional cost down. We will also highlight a customer drive for added value to the basic process by new developments in energy savings, individual part process data collection for parameters and time capture to a printer or computer network. We will conclude with our detailed assessment of where our sector of the general market for product assembly is headed in the future and how the Phasa process is addressing it.
