摘要

Surfacing or overlay-welding is a valuable and widely approved method to generate particular material properties. A row of sophisticated welding processes is nowadays used to accomplish this. In particular open-arc processes like the Gas Tungsten Arc Hot Wire Welding and highly sophisticated controlled Gas Metal Arc Welding like the Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) process have been discovered to provide great benefits to their users in different fields of surfacing applications. GTAW Hot wire surfacing is increasingly used in special fields of the offshore industry where materials with high corrosion and wear resistance are needed. The sophisticated CMT process whereas has begun to open a new dimension in both metallurgical calculability and economical advantages. This paper deals with both the present status of GTAW Hot Wire and sophisticated controlled GMAW (Pulsed and CMT) and their utilisation with specific overlay welding applications.
