摘要

The surface of aluminium materials is covered with an oxide layer, which worsens the ability for brazing of said materials and thus has to be removed before brazing. The characteristic of the oxide layer is mainly influenced by humidity, which changes multiple times during transport and storage of aluminium coils. Additionally temperature has an important influence on the growth of the oxide layer. The effect of both parameters on the thickness of the oxide layer will be shown. By knowing the surface characteristics results of brazing tests carried out in a lab furnace can be correlated with brazeability.
