Easing tensions in Ukraine knocked more than a dollar off oil prices last week after Ukraine’s newly elected President Petro Poroshenko signaled his readiness to work with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on a plan to end violence in eastern Ukraine. Putin is due to hold face-to-face meetings with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister David Cameron when the world’s leaders attend a D-Day anniversary gathering in France on Jun. 6. International benchmark Brent briefly hit a three-week low of $107.77 per barrel Thursday after the European Central Bank (ECB) cut interest rates.
