California's South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will be reviewing its Rule 1168 limiting volatile organic compounds (VOC) for adhesive and sealant applications. It has been almost 12 years since changes were made to Rule 1168 that resulted in any emission reductions. The rule was last updated in 2005, but that was not a major change resulting in emission reductions. Rule 1168 is the primary regulation that is cited in several Green Building codes as the standard for adhesives and sealants used in non-residential building, in addition, it is the rule in California that has served as the model for all of the other air district rules on industrial adhesives/sea la nts.
