摘要

The structural characterization for five currently used prosthetic-orthotic polymers, determined by proton (H-1) nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, showed residual unsaturation, C=C groups, in all materials, ranging from 1.7 to 15%. The determination of residual unsaturation by H-1-NMR spectroscopy in polymers contributes information that may be useful for: (1) quality control of batches of materials, and (2) the development of standards, test methods necessary to evaluate the effects of environmental influences associated with long-term clinical service. Materials selected for current usage were: DurrPlex (polyethylene terephthalate), polypropylene, Subortholen (polyethylene), Surlyn (ethylene methacrylate ionomer), and Uvex (cellulose acetate butyrate).
