The discrepancy between experiment and the Ehrenfest relation and their prediction of unity of the Prigogine-Defay ratio was studied by considering the case of ideal glass and by describing the glass transition thermodynamically. Based on the obtained computational relations, the ratio may take a number equal to, larger or smaller than unity which is dependent on the relative value of ΔCV and Γ. The incorrect assumption of differentiability of entropy at the transition, leading to the second Ehrenfest relation, was rectified to resolve the problem of the nature of glass transition.
