Great progress has been observed in recent years inthe development of Nd~(3+)-, Er~(3+)- and Pr~(3+) -dopedfluoride glasses appropriate for fibre lasers, upconversion lasersystems, and amplifiers operating at 1064 and 1550 nm. A seriesof fluoride glasses doped with different concentrations of Nd~(3+),Er~(3+) and Pr~(3+) ions have been prepared. The roomtemperature fluorescence spectra of these glasses under variousexcitation wavelengths have been investigated. Fluorescencelifetimes have been measured for the most interesting transitions.
