The compounds TbNi_2Ge_2 and TbCo_2Ge_2both crystallize with the ThCr_2Si_2 structure. TbNi_2Ge_2 hasa complex H-T phase diagram while TbCo_2Ge_2 has a muchsimpler, though disputed phase diagram. In order to investigatethe effects on the magnetism of TbNi_2Ge_2 due to cobaltsubstitution, single crystals of Tb(Ni_(1-x)Co_x)_2Ge_2 with xranging from 0 to 1 have been grown from a psuedoternary melt.We have traced the Néel and Weiss temperatures as a function ofcobalt concentration, x. Close to x valence 0.5, the Weisstemperature is positive, indicating predominately ferromagneticinteractions (in contrast to x <0.4 and x >0.6 for which theWeiss temperatures are negative), X(T≈TN) is a maximum andthe critical field for metamagnetism is a minimum. Nevertheless,the compound orders antiferromagnetically, similar to all othermembers of the dilution series.
