About fifty per cent of geographical area of western Rajasthan is being cultivated under different annual crops every year. During kharif season, cultivation is mostly practiced under rain-fed conditions whereas during Rabi season cultivation is donein places wherever irrigation resources are available. In kharif season, pre-dominantly grown legume crops are clusterbean or guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub), moth bean (Vigna aconitifolia (Jacq) Marechal), mung bean (Vigna radiata (L.) wilzek), cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) in order of their importance.
