摘要

This report provides the first record of the bramble shark(Echinorhinus brucus) from the Oman Sea. Hydrologically, theOman Sea is just a northern protuberance of the Indian Ocean.No report of the findings presented here was on record whenlooking at the complete checklist of fish in Iranian waters.Therefore, further studies are encouraged to complete ourknowledge on fish biodiversity in the area while also testingwhether the species is more common than assumed.The order Squaliformes, including all dogfish sharks, aresharks of normal cylindrical or somewhat compressed formfound in all oceans. This order has two families and 16genera (Smith and Heemstra, 1986). The family Echinorhinidae (bramble sharks) are marine, and found in cool towarm temperate waters, continental and insular shelves andslopes, as well as found in around some sea mounts.
