A new species of Holopothrips - H. tabebuia, is reported from Puerto Rico infesting the native white oak Tabebuia heterophylla and the introduced yellow oak T. aurea - a species used for urban landscape gardening in Puerto Rico. This first report of the new species describes the morphology and identification of the species, and includes data on the severity of infestation of each of the 2 oak species at 7 locations n Puerto Rico, which ranged from 0 to 100%.
