摘要

Soil and water loss in the Yangtze catchment results from the destruction of natural vegetation and is aggravated by the further destruction of forest vegetation. In the Three Gorges region, soil erosion are correspondingly aggravated with the adversesuccession of vegetation. Farmland on the steep slope is the main source of eroded sediment. Soil loss of the farmland is 60% of the total eroded soil in the Three Gorges region. Protecting forest vegetation is the basic measure of preventing and controlling the soil erosion.
