I have read the recent article "Paraganglioma of the cauda equ-ina: A highly vascular tumour",1 and wish to bring to your attention the following observations.First, the authors state that, to their knowledge, 150 cases of cauda equina paragangliomas have been published to date. We are unaware of the search procedures undertaken by the authors and are surprised that the recent review of Gelabert-Gonzalez, which includes 193 cases of paraganglioma, has not been cited,not to mention the further 25 cases published subsequentlySecond, the authors refer to the overproduction of catechola-mines in 2% of patients with paraganglioma and base their claim on five references. Surprisingly, overproduction of catechola-mines occurred in only one of these five patients.
