Primarily, I would like to respectfully acknowledge the time, effort, and dedication it takes to not only prepare the article I am writing you about, but publish it successfully. The article "The impact of a hand therapy screening and management clinic for patients referred for surgical opinion in an Australian public hospital," by Lisa O'Brien, Alison Hardman, and Sharon Goldby1 really piqued my interest. Not only did it strike my attention because of a personal experience I have had with a hand condition, but this article also helped me, as an aspiring Occupational Therapist, realize the importance of quality hand therapy and its personal reward for both the patient and the therapist. At first, I read this article to explore the specifics required for hand therapy, but ultimately 1 learned much more than that. It is evident through this article that Occupational Therapists can skillfully develop rehabilitation for patients that have been referred to surgery by using non-operative techniques; all it takes is passion for patient improvement and the dedication it takes to get there.
