摘要

This paper presents a compact printed circuit board (PCB) monopole antenna with the size of 30mm x 30mm for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a low-cost FR4 substrate with an asymmetric annular-ring patch fed by a 50 ohm microstrip. It has been demonstrated to provide a wide bandwidth from 2.6GHz to 14.3GHz, completely covering the range set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for UWB operations (3.1 GHz to 10.6GHz) with satisfying omnidirectional radiation patterns. The performance of the proposed antenna has been investigated through a large amount of simulations and measurements. Good agreement has been obtained between the simulated and experimental results and it shows that the antenna is a very good candidate for UWB operations.
