An interesting aspect of writing articles for Clinical Nursing Research is the requirement that there is a concluding focus on the potential applicability of findings to clinical practice. This necessary part of the presentation for publication is often omitted or diminished by prospective authors and reminders have to be sent before the final draft is accepted. It would seem that some investigators consider extending findings into clinical settings is beyond the knowledge base intended for the research presented. The knowledge sought by the researcher and the knowledge required by the clinician is a question that has to be resolved by every reader. Changing roles as one reads research begins when, as students, we are introduced to studies that relate to practice, while at the same time, we are beginning to critique these same studies from a research perspective. What is your current role as you read articles in a research journal?
