Biological characteristics of a local strain of Trichogramma chilonis were studied by exposing immature of the parasitoid for six hours to high temperatures (30+-1 deg C, 33+-1 deg C, 36+-1 deg C, 39+-1 deg C, 42+-1 deg C or 45+-1 deg C each at 80+-5%R. H.). Temperature.shoek at >=39 deg C, applied to different immature prolonged development of the parasltoid. Mortality of Immature stages was high when temperature shock was applied during egg or larval stage compared to that during pupal stage. Exposure of the parasitoid at >= 39+-1 deg C during different immature stages resulted in 53 to 75 per cent reduction in the fecundity. Exposure at >= 33+- deg C during egg or larval stage and .at >= 39+-1 deg C during pupal resulted in significant decreasein female longevity. No effect of high temperature shock was observed on fema la proportion in the progeny of treated generation. Exposure of the parasitoid at 45+-1 deg C during immature stages proved deleterious to the parasitoid.
