Carbon thin-films/SiOx nanowires (C/SiOx NWs) complex were fabricated by combining a simple electrospinning process combined with a carbon heat treatment method using a polyvinylchloride (PVC) solution as organic precursor. This material was investigated for use as the anode in lithium rechargeable batteries. The specific capacity of C/SiOx NWs complex have exhibited 600 mA h/g when first cycled at 0.1 C rate which was higher than that for C/silica nanoparticles (C/silica NPs) complex, and the reversible capacity for the C/SiOx NWs complex of approximately 360 mA h/g was retained after 30 cycles. The SiOx NWs exhibited normal reversible capacities, which are adaptable in LIB. (C) 2015 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
