In an earlier column in this journal, we reviewed the historical evolution and distinctive features of China's National Demonstration Eco-industrial Park (EIP) Program (Shi et al. 2012). Building on that description, we continue by reflecting on several important lessons from a decade of China's experimentation with EIPs and provide' an outlook for lifting the program to a whole new level.
