摘要

Obesity is a major medical problem as a result of its increasing prevalence worldwide and severe complications that are responsible for ~300,000 deaths each year in the United States [1]. The complications of obesity include type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteo-arthritis, cancer, nosocomial infection, and autoimmune diseases. Immune deficit in obesity is a key mediator in these complications. Recent findings have shown that altered cellular immune responses, including increased Th1 cells and CD8 cells, decreased Th2 cells in obesity and T regulatory cells in adipose tissue, are mechanisms for insulin resistance [2].
